I think first year students should live together with students from other peers. Firstly, they can know more about schools such as school policies professor's teachings tell. They will be easily adapted to the school. Second reason is that they can ask for help. Other year students are more experienced student and they might be helpful when researching or studying. In addition, they might be able to study deeply and get useful lessons.
